The Walupi guide

Plain answers, no jargon. If something here does not match what you see on screen, tell ops; the screen is wrong.

Buying, step by step

1. Find a run. A run is one trip by one verified runner: Guangzhou, Lome, Dubai. Each run shows who the runner is, when orders close, and when goods should arrive. You can also start from the catalogue and tap "Add to this run".

2. Say what you want. Describe the item, the quantity, and the price you agreed with the runner. Be specific: "Samsung A15, black, 128GB", not "a phone".

3. Confirm your number. We text a 6-digit code to your MoMo number. Entering it signs you in; your number is your account. No password, ever.

4. Pay with MoMo. Approve the prompt on your phone. Your money goes to Walupi, not the runner. It sits there, in your name, until the end.

5. Watch the trail. Every step the runner takes is recorded with sealed photos and papers: the supplier receipt, the waybill, the customs stamp. Open any of them, any time, from your order page.

6. Confirm delivery. When the goods reach you, tap "Confirm delivery". That is the moment your money moves to the runner. Not before.

Something wrong? Tap "Report a problem" on the order. Your money freezes instantly and stays frozen until ops resolves it with both of you.

Running, step by step

1. Get invited. Nobody signs up to carry other people's money. A current runner vouches for you with their own reputation, and sends you an invite link.

2. Verify. Upload your Ghana Card and a selfie, and give the exact name on your MoMo. Ops checks both by hand. Payouts only ever go to a MoMo registered in your verified name.

3. Open a run. Say where you are going, when orders close, and how many orders you can carry. Your ceiling (the most buyer money you may hold) starts modest and grows with every clean run.

4. Seal every milestone. Locked, purchased, shipped, arrived: each step needs its paper, photographed and submitted. No signal? Submit anyway; your phone sends it when you are back online. Each file is sealed the moment it lands and can never be edited.

5. Get paid. When your buyers confirm delivery, tap "Release my money", then "Send to my MoMo" from your wallet. Every figure in your wallet opens the ledger entries behind it.

Honest questions

Who holds my money? Walupi, through a licensed payment partner. The runner cannot touch it. We track every pesewa in a double-entry ledger that cannot be edited, only added to.

What if the run is cancelled? Every funded order is refunded to the MoMo number that paid, before the run can be cancelled at all.

What if the runner disappears? Your money never left Walupi, so it comes back to you. The runner's inviter staked their reputation on them, and both records carry it permanently.

Why is this cheaper? One trip carries many orders, so the cost of travel is shared. Slow, sure, cheaper.

How do I talk to my runner? Every order has a message thread: open your order and write to them. Keep the conversation on Walupi so ops can help if anything goes sideways.
