Your money, plainly
Is my money safe?
Short answer: Walupi is not a bank, and Walupi does not keep your money. A licensed partner holds it, and it moves only when you confirm your order arrived.
Is Walupi a bank?
No. Walupi is a marketplace that connects you to verified runners who source and deliver goods. We are not a bank, we do not take deposits, and we do not keep your cash in a Walupi account.
Then who holds my money?
When you pay, your money goes to our licensed payment partner, a company licensed by the Bank of Ghana to collect and move payments. That is the same kind of licensed handler your MoMo payment already passes through every day. Walupi never becomes the owner of your money.
So what right does Walupi have to hold it?
Walupi does not hold it. Walupi holds the decision: it tells the licensed partner to keep your payment in place until you say your order arrived, and only then to release it to the runner. The runner cannot pull it early. Walupi cannot spend it. It moves on your word, or it comes back to you.
What happens to your payment
Paid in
You pay with MoMo. The money lands with the licensed partner, tagged to your order. From that second, it is held. The runner sees that you are funded but cannot touch a pesewa of it.
Held while the run travels
Every step, buying, shipping, clearing, delivery, is stamped with sealed photos and documents you can open any time. Your money sits still through all of it.
Released on your word
When your order reaches you, you confirm delivery. Only then is the money released to the runner, minus Walupi's fee. No confirmation, no release.
Refunded or frozen if needed
If the run is cancelled before it locks, you get your money back. If something goes wrong, you report it, and the money stays frozen until it is sorted out fairly.
Who the runners are
Nobody can just sign up to carry your money. Runners join by invitation, ops checks their Ghana Card against their MoMo name, and their inviter stakes their own reputation on the first fulfilments.
Every runner has a ceiling: the most buyer money they may have held for them at once. It grows only with clean, confirmed deliveries.
What Walupi cannot do
Walupi cannot spend your money, lend it, or release it to a runner without your confirmation (or, if you go quiet, an ops decision recorded with a written reason). The trail is yours to inspect, always.
No jargon, no small print: your money moves only on your word.
