Walupi policies
Terms of service
The rules of using Walupi, written to match what the software actually does. If a sentence here and the app ever disagree, tell us: one of them is a bug.

1. What Walupi is
Walupi is a marketplace. Verified runners open trips ("runs"), buyers attach orders to those runs, and the runner sources the goods and delivers them. Walupi does not own the goods, does not sell them, and is not the shipper.
Walupi is not a bank and does not take deposits. When you pay, the money is collected and held by our licensed payment partner, a licensed payment provider. Walupi's own records (the ledger) track who is entitled to what, and Walupi tells the provider when to release. Walupi never becomes the owner of your money.
2. Who can use Walupi
Buyers. Anyone with a Ghana mobile number. You prove the number with a one-time code sent by SMS. There is no password to forget.
Runners. By invitation only. An existing runner or Walupi ops invites you, and you become a runner only after ops has approved your Ghana Card and confirmed your mobile money account is registered in the same name. Your inviter stakes their own record on your first fulfilments.
Every runner has a claim ceiling: the most buyer money that may be held for them at one time. It starts low and grows only with clean, confirmed deliveries. A run cannot take orders past that ceiling.
3. How an order works
You attach an order to an open run and pay by mobile money. From then until you confirm delivery, the money is held, not paid to the runner. The runner can see that you are funded and cannot touch it.
The run moves through fixed steps: open, locked, purchased, shipped, arrived, delivered, released. No step can be skipped or undone. The runner must seal proof to move some of them: a supplier receipt to record the purchase, a waybill to record shipping, an arrival or customs document to record landing, and a handover photo for each delivery.
Money is released to the runner when you confirm your order arrived. If you say nothing, the order confirms on its own 72 hours after the runner seals your handover photo, so a silent buyer cannot freeze a runner's money forever. That clock never runs while a problem report is open on your order. Walupi ops can also confirm a delivery on your behalf, and must record a written reason when they do.
4. Prices, fees, and what you pay
All prices are in Ghana cedis. Before you pay, checkout shows every line: the goods, the runner's own trip fee, and the Walupi fee. What you approve on your phone is the whole amount.
Walupi's commission is taken from the money at release, not charged separately. Your receipt lists every movement of your money with a reference you can quote back to us.
Runners set their own prices and trip fees. A price shown as a saving next to a higher "typical shop price" is the runner's own claim about the market, labelled with their name, not a Walupi valuation.
5. Group deals and paying in parts
Group deals. A runner may set a cheaper price that unlocks when buyers together reach a number of units before the run locks. You pay the normal price when you order. If the group reaches the number, everyone who bought that item is refunded the difference at lock time, automatically.
Pay small small. On runs that allow it, you can reserve your slot with a deposit and top up any amount until the run locks. Today, if you do not finish paying, or you cancel before the run locks, every pesewa you paid comes back to you. Nothing is forfeited. If that ever changes, this page changes first.
6. Changing your mind
An order you have not paid for can be cancelled at any time; it just frees your slot on the run.
An order you have paid for can be cancelled by you for a full refund at any time while the run is still open, with no problem report and no mark against the runner.
Once the run locks, the runner is committed and buying on your behalf, so cancelling stops. From that point, if something is wrong, you report a problem and the money stays held until it is resolved. See refunds and disputes.
If a run is cancelled before it locks, every funded order on it is refunded in full.
7. What you agree to
Order things that are legal to buy, import, and own. Give a delivery address the runner can actually reach. Do not use another person's mobile money number without their say so. Confirm delivery honestly, and report a real problem when there is one.
If you are a runner: deliver what you listed, seal true evidence at every step, keep your prices and stock honest, and never ask a buyer to pay you outside Walupi. Payments outside Walupi carry none of the protection on this page.
8. What Walupi may do
Walupi ops may hold a release, resolve a problem report, confirm a delivery with a written reason, refund an order, cancel a run, and suspend an account that breaks these terms.
Some records can never be edited or deleted, by anyone, including Walupi staff: money entries in the ledger, run milestones, and evidence files. A correction is always a new record that points at the old one, so the history stays readable.
9. What Walupi does not promise
Walupi does not guarantee that a run will fill, that a runner will find a particular item, or that delivery dates will be exact. Dates shown on a run are the runner's estimate. What Walupi does guarantee is the money rule: your payment is held and is released only on your confirmation, the automatic confirmation window described above, or an ops decision recorded with a reason.
To be confirmed: the limitation of liability wording, to be drafted with a lawyer
10. Changes, and who we are
When these terms change, the date at the top changes. Changes are not applied backwards to money already held under the old terms.
To be confirmed: the registered business name, registration number, and business address
To be confirmed: the governing law and where disputes with Walupi itself would be heard
To be confirmed: the contact address for legal notices
